I paint in the tradition of Picasso. Not in the way he fractures images, but in the way he applies paint. I start with structure and apply paint loosely using my past paintings as a point of reference. Each painting is a new discovery leading me to the next.

A painting begins by visiting public places and vacation sites which provide a potpourri of people to draw. I then use my gesture drawings in the studio as subjects to paint.

I am an artist of controlled passion, using color, light, and line in a non-rendered way to produce a unique style of expression. Using the push-pull of color and contrast I have learned to bring life to the canvas. I have discovered how to make light illuminate my paintings. Mastering line brings power to my subjects.
